Hampshire Open Studios 2022 a hit

Thank you to all the lovely visitors who came along to our Hampshire Open Studios event at the end of August.

I exhibited in the village of Swanmore with the Wessex Guild of Craftsmen. Eight of us displayed our wares and demonstrated some of our techniques.

Stalls featured illustration, textile art, digital art and original drawings, basketmaking, acrylic paintings, woodturning, decorated ceramics and, of course, stained glass.

I took lots of stained glass pieces along that I had cut out in the studio so I could demonstrate the copper foil technique. Everything on my stall was made using this method and people were struck with how many processes are involved in constructing the work.

Regarding sales, as always, my angel decorations were popular, along with jewellery and vases. The wall dragons and sitting ‘shelfie’ dragons brought a smile too, with several flying off to new homes.

I planted up some of the terrariums with white gravel and very realistic artificial succulent plants. They really come alive when they are planted up. They looked very smart and stylish for any interior. Plus they had the added benefit of being ready to display, with no maintenance for the plants! Several visitors commented on how good and unusual they looked. And some of them bought them to take home or to give as gifts to their grown-up children.

The terrariums are available in a variety of designs. Some stand on a table top or shelf, while others are designed to hang up.

If you missed out, do have a browse of the website shop, or come along to another of my 2022 events: Taste of Wickham (11 September in Wickham Square, Wickham, Hampshire PO17 5JT), or the Contemporary Craft Show at Fort Purbrook on 5 and 6 November 2022 (Peter Ashley Activity Centre, Portsdown Hill Road, Portsmouth, PO6 1BJ).
