Green pear vase

This pear-shaped vase is formed from a fabulous rich lime green glass of generous thickness. Its base features a clearer, contrasting green and it is embellished with stylised flower shapes in complementary green glass. Each decoration of abstract petals has a millefiori glass mosaic bead as its centre and these, in turn, have a circle pattern of yellow, red and green glasses.

The decoration is made using the traditional copper foil technique in which each piece of hand-cut stained glass is wrapped in foil and then coated in solder before assembly with the other pieces. Wire ‘stems’ are added in a complementary curved shape and a ‘bud’ of solder completes the design.

This compact yet bold design would hold its own on any table, shelf, mantelpiece or window sill. It could also display a colourful flower or two – the choice is yours.
