If you love unique, handmade art and craft, don’t miss the Wessex Guild of Craftsmen event at Upham Village Hall this August, which is part of the popular Hampshire Open Studios. As a member of this prestigious Guild, I’ll be showcasing my intricate and vibrant stained glass creations over two weeks in August with 14 other members working in a range of art and craft disciplines.
Come along to see new work and established favourites, including my latest freestanding panels featuring koi carp and the beautiful Magnolia, created in glorious stained glass. The koi panel uses iridescent glass to truly capture the magnificence of these fish. The Magnolia panel is intricately made with a 3D effect achieved in the petals and a subtle warmth glows from the pale pink glass. Come and see them in person to appreciate them fully.
Alongside these unique, handmade art pieces, will be smaller sculptures like mini houses, polar bears, birds and even snails! With decorated vases and coasters, and everything in between, there is sure to be something to suit your taste and budget. Plus, for those already planning Christmas (you know who you are! :)) – some cute snowmen, angels and tree decorations will be waiting to greet you.
Artist displays
Alongside my stained glass, on show will be the work of other exceptional artists. They specialise in exquisite jewellery, textile art, pottery, woven baskets, turned pens, lino-cut prints, needle-felted pictures, digital art, wicker sculptures, abstract paintings, painted ceramics, and fine illustration. So it will definitely be worth visiting to see all this lovely work in person. Different artists will be in attendance each day and some will be demonstrating their techniques.
Win a £50 voucher
There is also a chance to win a £50 voucher to spend at the local pub, The Brushmakers Arms. Look out for the entry forms and be sure to hand them in at Upham Village Hall during your visit.
Tasty refreshments
Another important element of any day out is the opportunity to sample tasty treats and we are delighted to welcome the talented Annabel Bakes Cakes to our event. Annabel will be providing a delicious range of cakes and drinks to sustain you while you browse and decide what to buy.
Preview evening
If you want to be the first to see all this fabulous work by 15 skilled artists and craftspeople, make a note to visit during the Preview Evening, to be held on Friday 16 August from 6-8.30pm. Meet the artists, enjoy delicious drinks and canapés and buy from the full range of works of art before everyone else.
