Lord of the Rings inspired stained glass window

Tree Window

This tree design was a special birthday present for a man who loves J R R Tolkein’s famous ‘The Lord of the Rings’ books. He wanted an Elvish feel to the tree of life-style panel, so I collaborated with him on translating his thoughts into a stylish stained glass window.

The tree itself was framed in a simple blue circle, the edge of which was overlapped in places by the leaves and curved roots to give extra interest.

The panel was created to replace a plain, clear glass, over-door transom window between his kitchen and living room and was neatly finished as it would be viewed from both sides, changing in tone as the light changed.

I enjoyed making this smart and unique birthday gift and was delighted with how the design translated into the jewel-coloured glass.
