You know someone is mad about red pandas when they dye their long hair red and add a black tint to the ends! This red panda picture was made for that person.
It features a lovely, rich, red-rust glass for the head of the red panda, plus black and white glasses for the details of the face. I used my trusty ring saw to carve the indents in the fur at the sides to make it more realistic.
The mouth and whiskers were made from different gauges of wire and a tiny triangle of glass was added for the nose.
Red panda at the window
As the red panda was sitting inside the mount board, I thought it would be fun to add the paws over the top of the mount, to suggest he had his paws over the edge.
If you have had the chance to see red pandas up close, you will know how cute they are. Maybe you are a red panda fan too? I hope this framed picture has captured their essence.
Perhaps you have a favourite animal that you would like to see recreated in stained glass?
