Wickham village in Hampshire has a lively community and hosts a variety of social events through the year in its historic square. One of these is the Taste of Wickham, featuring the best of food and drink from the local area.
As well as delights to tempt the palate, there are stalls for art and craft makers who live in or near Wickham, plus demonstrations and music. So there is plenty to keep everyone entertained during the day.
I have enjoyed this event several times as a visitor in the past so this year I have decided to take a stall for my stained glass work. We have gazebos outdoors in Wickham Square, so I’m hoping for dry weather on Sunday 11 September, when Taste of Wickham is on.
Among my best sellers this year have been the angels and dragons so I have been busy making stocks of these. The angels are perfect as Christmas decorations, but they are also bought as guardian angels at other times of year.
The dragons are available in two designs – either as wall art, or as ‘shelfies’ to sit on a shelf or ledge. Both designs come in a variety of colours and have fun, dangling legs made from wire, with solder feet. They are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, or to that of someone receiving one as a gift.
Another highlight of my Taste of Wickham stall will be a range of glass terrariums. I have planted them up with artificial plants set in white gravel and they look very smart indeed. They’d suit a contemporary or traditional home equally well and require no maintenance!
Wickham Square is in the heart of Wickham (PO17 5JT), which is easily accessible from the Winchester Road and A32. There are several car parks nearby and a park-and-ride scheme in place.
So come on down and enjoy all sorts of tasty food and drink, art and craft, at the Taste of Wickham on 11 September 2022. It would be great to see you there!
