On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th December, why not take the opportunity to do all your Christmas shopping under one roof in the historic and picturesque city of Winchester at the Crafty Women Handmade Fair? The roof in question is that of the iconic Victorian Guildhall, located on The Broadway in the city centre.
Set up by a group of artists from the Chandlers Ford area, the Crafty Women group organises various Handmade Fairs in Hampshire featuring quality art and craft made by artists in the South Coast region.
At this year’s Christmas Handmade Fair, Sarah Featherstone, of the lovely Wild Art Gallery in Wickham’s Warwick Lane arcade, will be showcasing her finely detailed art paintings and the work of other artists who sell pieces through her shop. These include Jane Warwick’s textile art, Beth Frost’s animal cards and prints, and Phillipa Smith’s mounted photographs and cards. And of course she will be taking along some of my stained glass Quirky Birds, cats, owls, polar bears and Christmas decorations.
Of course, that is just one stall and there will be plenty more quality handmade artworks to browse and buy for yourself, friends and family.
The Crafty Women Handmade Fair takes place in the Guildhall from 10am to 4pm on each day. Admission is free.
Winchester is a great destination, with lots of shops and restaurants, plus the Christmas Market will be in full swing around the cathedral, so why not make a day of it? Make sure you visit the Guildhall first, though! (postcode: SO23 9GH).
