Would you like to see lots of original art and craft and meet the makers? Yes? It sounds like Hampshire Open Studios is perfect for you!
This popular, annual event takes place towards the end of August and provides a special opportunity to chat to the designers and, in some cases, see their workplaces.
Though the event was cancelled in 2020, because of the pandemic, artists have been busy creating and are ready to show off their latest work in 2021.
The 2021 Hampshire Open Studios event will be a bumper year, with hundreds of artists and artisans taking part. There are over 250 venues opening across Hampshire, representing many creative people working in all media and styles.
From Friday 27 to Monday 30 August 2021, I am exhibiting with the Wessex Guild of Craftsmen at the Paterson Centre in the pretty Swanmore village. Seven of us are displaying together in the hall, so there will be a variety of quality artwork to see and buy. There are also other artists opening their studios in the area, so you could work out a little tour.
The talented designers will be showing accomplished textile pictures, pottery, traditional basketmaking, woodturning and a variety of styles of painting and drawing. I’ll be exhibiting lots of small stained glass pieces, ranging from decorated vases and sculpture, to unique light catchers, pictures and gifts. Themes range from abstract to houses, boats, animals and birds.
We will be in attendance each day and you are welcome to ask questions, find out about our work, and discuss special commissions.
Printed brochures are available at venues across Hampshire, but if you would like one posted to you, contact the organiser on email to: hampshireopenstudios@gmail.com . Alternatively, you can view the brochure as a pdf online and view the maps here.
